Start saving for Christmas today

2 January 2008

For most of us, Christmas can be an expensive time of year. January is a good time to start a brand new savings account to put away a little amount each week to help pay for next year's Christmas presents.

Some banks like the Bendigo Bank and a few of the credit unions have a Christmas Club account but the majority don't.

You don't need special savings accounts to save money for next year's Christmas presents and it will no doubt save you a small fortune, especially if you are one of the many that charge them on your credit card.

Saving $500 isn't too hard to do if you put $10 into a savings account each week while finding a spare $500 in the weeks leading up to Christmas can be a little tricky if you have just one unexpected bill.
