Teaching children about savings accounts
Monday September 8, 2008
When teaching children about using savings accounts in order to reach their saving goals, it is important not to just try to teach through the simple example of saving over time. Good saving practices go beyond merely putting money away regularly, as choosing the right savings accounts and learning how to use online savings accounts are also very important things to learn.
While young children may not be able to understand the advantages of shopping around for different savings accounts, teenagers certainly may be able to, especially if they have recently begun working. They will need to be taught how to look for good high interest savings accounts, however, and may also need to look into opening more than one account.
